Internet: There is excellent free wireless high speed internet available in all units and it works all over the resort. You can use resort the internet for Zoom conferences and most purposes if you work while there. There is also beach internet and Pelican Bay internet all with the same easy to remember password which we give to guests ahead of arrival.
Telephone: All of Turks and Caicos is in the 649 area code and there is 7 digit local calling. It is very expensive to call Turks and Caicos from any other country. Roaming costs are high and we recommend using the Wifi for Skype, Facetime, Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp to call home or outside the Turks and Caicos Islands. Some cellular carriers allow you to use Wifi calling on their systems and you can do that with cellular service turned off for free calling and texting to and from your cell phone as if you were at home. Because our suites are not part of the hotel our resort telephones which did allow local dialing were recently removed by management. We recommend using WhatsApp for local calling as it is very popular locally and you can contact some local restaurants and other businesses using WhatsApp. More restaurants are allowing online booking or using Open Table so it is not as important now to be able to call locally from a telephone.
Heat and Air: Air conditioning is central and usually necessary. Heating is not needed. There are ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom which are best to run constantly for air flow. At night you can turn off the air conditioning if you like and get fresh air from 4 side windows and two more at the front in the bedroom of 111. The central air conditioning system in 111 was replaced by a new one in March 2018. There is a high efficiency quiet air conditioning unit in Studio 112 on the wall which was replaced in 2022. It has a remote and completely cools the whole unit. If you set the temperature too low the system could freeze up and stop working.
Cable TV: There is a 40 inch flat screen HD TV in the living room and a 30 inch one in the bedroom in 111 and one 40 inch HD TV in 112. They are not Smart TVs. All have full and upgraded digital cable service giving U.S., Canadian and local programming. There are also Blue Ray DVD Players with each TV and an interesting selection of DVD and Blue Ray discs for your use.
Closet: There is a large bedroom closet with lots of hangers in each unit and there are dressers and night tables giving more room for storing clothes and personal things you bring—
Keys and Safe: Room entry is by an electronic key fob and you will get one on arrival from a lockbox and there is a second one inside. If the keys get wet or affected by credit cards you may carry with them they could stop working. Go to the resort front desk to get them working again. If you are locked out the front desk can also help even though you are not a hotel guest. There is a hotel type safe in the bedroom closet where you use a key. The safe key is attached to one of your room key fobs. It does not operate by electronic combination lock as we had problems with batteries failing and changed them to a simple key. When you leave at the end of your stay just leave the keys where they can be easily seen in the kitchen area.
Beds: King size bed with very comfortable pillow top mattress in the large separate bedroom and the living room sofa bed in 111 opens to Queen size. The bed in the studio is a King size one and people have complimented it for comfort. Sofa bed in one bedroom is fairly new and in good condition, but no sofa bed is very comfortable.
Housekeeping: There is a midweek cleaning and replenishing of supplies on request for stays of 6 nights or more. The unit is cleaned thoroughly between users. Usually guest must leave at check out time 11 AM to allow for full cleaning before the next guests arrive.
Unit 112 and MORE: The adjoining unit to 111 is a studio with a living room including a King size bed, large bathroom with tub, a partial kitchen with full size fridge and a small café style dining area. The unit is equipped for some cooking with one stove element, a toaster, a microwave, a basket style coffee machine and a blender. There are dishes, pots and pans and cutlery. There is an electric kettle, tea cups and saucers. The newly acquired Studio 212 is similar to 112 except that it has a newly renovated bathroom with a walk in shower and still does have resort phones. Studio 212 will be listed for sale soon. You can also book our one bedroom unit 4205 at Coral Gardens Resort which we will be keeping and continuing to rent to guests.
